I'm still not sure what a "Bumbleberry" is but I now know that it makes for a delicious dessert. This little bakery, tucked into the corner of a building that houses the Bumbleberry Gift Shop and Wildcat Willies is famous for its pies. There is a story of the Bumbleberry on the wall of the bakery and it describes the berry as being created with a giggle and a squiggle, and then mixed all together, or something like that. As I read it, I felt like I was about to experience a great dessert with a great story.
By 7 pm, there were only 3 whole pies left, so they were only being sold by the slice and so I chose mine and took it back to our hotel. It had a delightful flaky crust sprinkled with sugar and a delicious berry interior. I might have detected a blueberry or blackberry in amongst those bumbleberries? Whether you enjoy Bumbleberry pie or a turnover, muffin, or brownie, be sure to check out this great bakery on the road to Zion National Park.
