Bristol Motor Speedway
151 Speedway Blvd.,
Tennessee 37620
"Let's Go Racing boys!"
Known as the world's fastest half mile, the Bristol Motor Speedway attracts thousands of race fans each fall and spring. Admittedly it is LOUD, but so exciting to watch a race live. It is so cool to be able to see the entire track from your seat and to watch the action on pit row. I'm not sure a lot of people are aware that Bristol Motor Speedway also has a dragstrip. I haven't attended any drag races, but have heard they are entertaining to watch as well.

Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort and Amusement Park | kids travel, kids activities
Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort and Amusement Park
1001 Parkway,
"good times"
It has been several years since I've been to Ober Gatlinburg. We have always driven up the mountain, but you can ride the tram as well. I have not skiied there in years so I won't comment on the ski area, however, they also have an ice skating rink that is super fun. I have been skating many times with friends a family members. It's always fun to circle the ice gliding on a pair of skates. And who doesn't enjoy watching the zamboni clear the ice? Ober Gatlinburg also has lots of booths with Smokey Mountain souvenirs for sale. I enjoy browsing the different crafts and things.

Ripleys Aquarium of the Smokies | kids travel, kids activities
Ripleys Aquarium of the Smokies
Traffic light #5,
"just so so"
My husband and I took our daughter to the aquarium thinking we would have a great time. The cost of tickets is insanely expensive. I couldn't believe it cost so much. We went during the week thinking it wouldn't be as crowded. WRONG! Ther were several school groups there. The kids were bascially unsupervised and rude. We were shoved, interrupted, stepped on, pushed, etc. which I will admit added to my being unimpressed with th aquarium. I felt like the displays could be more exciting and interesting. It gets old having to read those signs to my daughter who can't read. We did enjoy the little play area (until the school kids got to it) and petting the stingrays.

Inside CNN Studio Tour | kids travel, kids activities
Inside CNN Studio Tour
One CNN Center,
Georgia 30303
"only OK"
I went a tour of the CNN building with a school group. The tour begins with riding the world's longest escalator. It takes a long time to get up that thing too! There was a green screen explanation and demonstration which the kids enjoyed. We toured a lot of studios within the building and received great information about how things worked in the CNN building and in the CNN network. I think the tour would have been more exciting if there had actually been some reporters in some of the studios. I guess we were there on a quiet day.

The World of Coca-Cola | kids travel, kids activities
The World of Coca-Cola
121 Baker Street NW,
"lots of interesting exhibits"
I visited the World of Coca-Cola last year with a school group. We were on a bit of a time crunch, so I didn't feel like I was able to really take time to examine every exhibit as I would have liked, but I did enjoy what I saw. There are a lot of exhibits that show the history of Coca-Cola. There are lots of memorabilia/ antiques on display. I found the bottling producting exhibit to be quite interesting. At the end of the tour you can even take a bottle of Coke home with you as a souvenir. There is a taste sampling area at the end of hte tour as well. I think there are like 68 different Coke products available from around the world. Some were delicious and some were nasty, but it was cool to see and taste.
