"Fun Atmosphere"
The most fun we had on Tybee Island was probably at the Crab Shack. We actually made a 2nd visit on our way out of town, because our 3 year old requested to feed the alligators again!
We visited the Crab Shack on a Friday night and waited about an hour to be seated. Lucky for us, traveling with a 3 and 8 year old, there was plenty to look at and do while we waited!

The Shack is mostly outdoors with a roof over the dining area. The waiting area consists of benches around an enclosed baby alligator pond. For only a couple dollars you can purchase food and feed the alligators using a "fishing pole" My children LOVED feeding the gators!

There is also a gift shop you may visit while waiting, inside are some bird cages with talking parrots. Friends of ours visited the gift shop on the way out, because they just HAD to buy some of the hand scrub soap carried exclusively at their restaurant.

The menu selection was limited, however the server was very friendly and the food was good.

"Great Visit"
We had a fantastic visit to the Children's Museum of Denver! First stop was the excellent Firetruck just inside the doors! Our kids dressed as firefighters (jackets, helmets, boots...) then lifted the gigantic hose to "fight the fire"! They could climb on and in the truck too! What made the trip the best for us were 2 exhibits: #1 a workshop to make items out of recycled items! My kids LOVE to upcycle everything at home, so this was PERFECT! You pick a project in the blueprint section, gather materials, and use real tools to complete your creation! My daughters made a princess crown out of a plastic container and a mini purse out of a milk carton! This exhibit got our wheels turning on more things to create at home as well! #2 was the bubble exhibit! This was so much fun! You get to suit up with googles and oversized shirts to protect your clothing - then go on in to start exploring. Make giant bubbles, play with bubbles, put your hand thru a bubble, you can even put yourself inside a bubble!!!

"Best view on the island"
The lighthouse was beautiful and offered the best view of the island! With the admission you also can view all the buildings on the grounds! As well as the museum across the lot. The deck is old and being slightly nervous of heights it was a but scary, but worth it! Not necessarily the best choice with young children...carrying a child up over a thousand steps was a bit exhausting! One important piece of info I wish I had known was that parking by the lighthouse is FREE we paid to park in another area before we knew this.

"Will not visit again"
We were in town for a wedding at the hotel, so we made a reservation and stayed. This hotel was not worth the price we paid. Our room was musty smelling. The floors felt damp. The pool was cold and dirty, a huge disappointment for our children, as they wanted to swim! The hotel was old, and kind of run down - especially showed in the bathroom. The beach was dirty...overall we were rather disappointed with our stay. The greatest disappointments for my husband and I were that each morning we received a 5 am wakeup call, which we did not request. When I talked to the front desk about this, and how upset it made me that the phone had woken up my young children, they only said they were sorry that their system sometimes does not reset. And my husband discovered that the internet connection on our cell phone was stronger, faster, and more reliable than the wifi in the hotel.

"A nice time"
I am disappointed to read the recent reviews of this hotel. Our family had a great time when we visited last winter! My friend and I traveled with our children (there were 6 of us total) our suite was perfect! We had a fireplace, jacuzzi tub (outside of the bathroom) almost the size of a kiddie pool for my 3 year old! All 4 kids played in the tub. Then warmed up by the fireplace. There was a separate bedroom with 2 beds as well as a king size bed and pull out couch. Plenty of room for everyone! The pool was fun! And when we needed to stay an extra day because of a sick child the hotel offered us a discount on the next night! Sure it is a little older and not "flashy" but the price was GREAT!
