About Me & My Family

We are a budget-oriented, educational opportunity loving family of 6 who currently reside in South Davis County, Utah. We're more zoo people than we are circus people. We love taking our kids on simple, fun activities that don't cost an arm and a leg.

A Place We'd Love To Visit
Someday we'll go to Moab!
Favorite Vacation Memory
Our absolute favorite vacation so far has been when we went to Yellowstone National Park. Our kids were little, so we didn't do a ton of hiking, but seeing the waterfalls, geysers and of course, the bison, were all incredible. We can't wait to go back!
Worst Travel Moment With My Kids:
No joke- every time we take a trip, at least 1 kid throws up in the car. Perhaps someday we can have a vomit-free vacation?!?

"Fun for kids all ages!"
The Clark Planetarium, located on the Gateway Mall grounds, has a ton of fun learning activities that everyone will enjoy. It's free to walk around and see all of the exhibits- lots of hands-on learning centers, plus neat things to look at. We love watching the ball track exhibit! Watch a bunch of pool balls fall along the intriciately designed tracks several stories tall!

"Fun, educational, unique activity!"
We didn't think this outing would be a hit with the kids, but they loved it! We went during a free admission event, but even for $5, it's worth it. The view of the mine is absolutly incredible! Plus, seeing all the GIANT {and I mean GIANT!!} vehicles working the mine is awesome. Walk through the visitors center to learn more about how the copper is mined and what's done with it afterwards. The video was interesting, but my kids did get a little bored with it near the end. Overall a great, inexpensive activity!

"Splash around for free!"
The Gateway Mall Fountains are so fun! They're set to music so the kids can dance around, running in and out of the water as the fountains turn on and off. Large, open area with benches to sit on and a few shady areas. Bring a swim diaper and cover for kids still in diapers. My husband and I trade off watching the kids and shopping!

"Great outdoor activity for kids!"
We love showing our kids what fun being in the outdoors can be, so this nature center is perfect for us! Walk around and see the different exhibits like the butterfly garden, wildflower meadow, ponds, creeks and even a Children's Discovery House.  They also offer tons of activities and events throughout the year. Family Nights are from 6-8pm and include crafts, live animal shows and more!

"Temple Grounds are Gorgeous"
You wouldn't go to Rome and not see the Vatican, so if you're traveling to Salt Lake, make time to go see Temple Square. The grounds are impeccably maintained, so they're just stunning! From all the flowers and foliage to the waterfalls and reflection pond, they really are amazing. Eat at the Nauvoo Cafe- towards the south east corner of the square. The pot pies are the BEST, but really I've loved everything I had there! Thursdays at 8pm, the world renouned Mormon Tabernacle Choir rehearses- you can see it for free! http://www.mormontabernaclechoir.org/events/
