A few hours southwest of South Tampa you'll drive through strawberry fields and cattle far along the county roads into the heart of the state. Sometimes when you get to the heart of something you find the true beauty. The state of Florida is lined with beautiful beaches and sugar white sand, however in the very heart of the state is where you'll find rolling hills and sunsets like you've never seen. It might take a little while to get there, but you will definitely not be disappointed. As with most things in life, it is definitely worth the wait.
Streamsong Resort is built on tens of thousands of acres that used to be mined for phosphate and massive amounts of sand were left in its place. They decided to rebuild on top of this area because sand is actually a great base for building golf courses. There are 2 golf courses, Red and Blue, designed by world class golf architects. They are currently finishing up the 3rd course, Black, but it will not be ready until Spring 2017.
This luxury resort is literally in the middle of nowhere. But that’s a good thing. From the Fragmentary Blue balcony atop the main 216-room lodge is modern, luxurious, spacious and artfully designed. Every room is a retreat and a has a view as far as the eye can see. It’s such a beautiful piece of land that is unique to Florida. Watching the storms roll in and seeing the sunset was amazing!
You’ll valet your car as soon as you arrive as you will not need to leave for the duration of your stay. There are four gourmet restaurants and onsite that offer fine dining options and delicious on site as well as a grotto-style full-service spa too. Yes, this is a golfers’ paradise, but the resort also offers archery, sporting clays, bass fishing and an infinity pool that offers peace and quiet refreshment, nestled along the bank of a creek.
Only 90 minutes from Tampa or Orlando, this resort is unlike no other. I would not recommend brining children to this resort as it is more for adults, business conventions and weekend getaways.
