"Beach Resort with the Comforts of Home"

Each year, our family takes at least one beach trip and we always try to stay oceanfront. This year we decided it was time to try something new. Rather than renting a beach house or staying in an oceanfront condo, we checked into The Sea Trail Plantation and Golf Resort. It is located on the mainland of Sunset Beach, NC in Brunswick County just minutes from the Atlantic Ocean.

Sea Trail Plantation offers over 200 villa-style suites. Our villa included a full kitchen, dining and living area, a bedroom with two full beds, and a “mini-suite” which had two additional full beds, a kitchenette, and a small dining area. The suite had a full washer and dryer, which is ideal for vacationing with kids anywhere, and absolutely necessary for sandy bathing suits, and dirty beach towels. The villa was bright and comfortable. I appreciated having a full kitchen for preparing meals without the responsibilities of cleaning that go along with renting a beachfront privately-owned home. Our villa also had a porch that overlooked a lovely golf course.

Amenities at Sea Trail included indoor and outdoor pools, three award-winning golf courses, two restaurants, and 2000 serene acres. Spanish moss draped from trees over the golf course and made for a lovely backdrop for my daily run. The indoor pool was small, but big enough for the kids to burn some energy between beach trips. Although the outdoor pool was closed for the season, it was beautiful and I’d love to go back in the summer to try it out.

The resort is minutes from the delicious restaurants and unique shopping of Calabash, NC, and the town of Sunset Beach. It is also a hop, skip, and a jump from the ocean. The trip from the plantation to the ocean can be easily made by car or by beach cruiser. I would recommend Sea Trail to any family looking for a peaceful resort vacation with the comforts of home.

Disclaimer: We enjoyed a complimentary stay at Sea Trail Golf Resort and Convention Center while visiting the Brunswick Islands, as well as passes for several island activities, but the opinions expressed in this review are my own.
