"SUPER location + ROOMY rooms + FREE hot breakfast = Happy Families!"

Embassy Suites Portland is a top-notch pick for families!

Originally the Mulnomah Hotel, the building was built in 1912, and has a long history in the area. The decor is grand and elegant. Entering the lobby is like stepping back into a time of top hats, ball gowns, and martini glasses. Even so, it’s certainly not a stuffy environment! The hotel is infused with modern and splashy details, serving up just the right amount of urbanism.

In true Embassy Suites style, the hotel offers a complimentary Evening Reception w/ alcoholic + nonalcoholic beverages. Snacks included veggies + dip, chips + salsa, trail mix, and animal cookies (depending on the night).

I’ve always said that Embassy Suites offers the BEST complimentary breakfast of any hotel chain – and the Portland Downtown location did not disappoint. In addition to a well-organized buffet line with pancakes, bacon, sausage, and eggs, there was a cook-to-order station for omelets. Plus – pastries, oatmeal, cereal, coffee, teas, and a surprisingly tasty peach juice.

Another HUGE bonus! You can walk to Powell's City of Books, Portland's Food Carts, Voodoo Doughnut, H&M, and Nordstrom Rack from here. If you want to venture further out (to Washington Park, for example), it's a cinch to jump on the MAX light rail. No car needed.

"Awesome place to stay!"

The Embassy Suites was a little pricey (I think we paid $189 a night), but here's what you get:

-a suite so you can put the kids to bed and retire to your own room and have a little privacy without buying two rooms
-free breakfast that's really good and includes an omelet station
-the pool is great for little kids; it's very big but tops out at 4 feet and the water is kept very warm
-convenient to all four MAX tramway lines so it's very easy to get around without a car
-around the corner from Voodoo doughnuts!!
