I'm not typically a roadside motel sort of traveler. I like my complimentary breakfast, updated room amenities and indoor pools. However, the Colonial Motel, may have converted me.
First, the staff at the front desk were particularly friendly and helpful. I asked all sorts of questions about where to eat dinner - the staff patiently helped me find the perfect restaurant.
Then, when we came back from dinner there was a campfire going in front of the motel and supplies for marshmallow roasting and s'more making in the hotel office.
The decor in our room was a bit outdated, yet the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It's always so nice to be able to park right in front of your room.
Surprisingly, we did not hear much outside noise - despite the town being especially busy with vacationers.
In the morning, we stopped by the office for coffee and hot cocoa. There were marshmallows for the hot cocoa -- which made my kids' day.
