An Urban Oasis
The Voelker Orth Museum is a small oasis in a sea of brick apartment buildings. It is quaint, charming, and has a garden that is beautiful year-round! Visiting is like taking a step back in time to an earlier New York City. It is a place where families can come to connect with nature, learn a bit more about New York's history, and participate in fun family activities! For example, the Museum offers art making in the garden in the summer, as well as family programs such as a Honey Harvest Festival, Earth Day Celebration, and Halloween Family Fun Night spread throughout the year.
Parents, girl/boy scout troops, and youth groups should also check out their field trip programs! The small size of the Voelker Orth allows them to see only one group of 30 at a time, which makes for a very personalized, individualized, and relaxing experience. All of their science and history programs include a hands-on activity like creating an art projects or building your own terrarium.
