My granddaughter loves running through the "castle" at Swansea Kingdom Park. She especially likes the bridges. The slides get too hot to use most days in the summer. The area for smaller children needs updating and improvement. Especially the "sand pit" for digging. The material under the sand is showing through everywhere, and new sand is needed. How about adding a few climbing places, for both younger and older children. The Splash Pad is nice, but go one step further and put a wading pool in for the youngsters!
We have visited here several times. My kids love the splash pad and the huge castle playground. I would highly recommend it to anyone living in southern IL area. Bring a towel and a picnic lunch to enjoy the summer sunshine. There are lots of kid-friendly restaurants and shopping in nearby Fairview Heights.
This park is tucked away in the St. Louis suburb of Swansea, IL. It is a great park if you are in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way just to visit it. There are a few picnic tables available if you'd like to have lunch there. On hot summer days, there is a splash pad were the kiddos can cool off. Swimsuits are best and bring a towel. The playground has a nice size play area for toddlers- 5. The big kid side is much larger and is fashioned into a castle that has many slides and things to climb.
