"Race on over!"

If you have a race car fan in your family, Pocono Raceway is worth the trip.  Located in scenic Pocono Mountains, it makes for a fun and exciting day trip for any speed-loving kid (or grownup)!

I was fortunate enough to end up here as a result of a gift I gave my husband for a big birthday.  He took a day course and learned how to drive a racecar ( I know there are specific types of racecars, but I cannot recall the ones he tried  - stock car maybe?).  The morning was spent learning the basics in a classroom setting, and then in the afternoon, he could try out his new skills on the track!

When it was time for his racing debut, my kids and I were able to come to the track and watch him get on the racing gear(jumpsuit and helmet), pick his car (that was a terrific treat), get strapped in, and "race" along with the instructors.  He had fun, and my kids LOVED watching Daddy careen around the track over and over again at top speed.  Cameras were allowed, so we have many pictures of the cars, the gear, and the speed!

The staff was very accommodating and kept us in a safe area, yet still allowed us to share in this event with our family member on the track.  At the end when the cars were idle, they let my son (5 at the time) put on the helmet and sit in the car for a photo.  Being a racecar fan at that age, he thought he was on top of the world!

We never attended a Nascar event at Pocono Raceway, but this event we did go to was well worth it.  I found the facility to be easy to get to and accommodating, the staff very friendly, the adventure exciting, and the area itself to be enjoyable.  There's so much the Poconos has to offer families, but this is one adventure that stands out!  If racing is exciting to anyone in your family, you'll want to speed on over to Pocono Raceway for entertainment like you've never seen!
