The day we went was the Teddy Bear Clinic day. What a great time we had! Doctors from the local hospital donated their time to set up a "clinic" for children to bring their favorite stuffed animal in for a checkup. The children had to check their stuffed animal in just as you would at a normal doctor's office. Once the stuffed animal's name was called, the child would take the animal in to see the doctor. The doctor asked the child all kinds of "real" questions about the stuff animal while performing an actual checkup on it. Then, the doctor wrote out a prescription for the animal and a nurse tended to the prescription. Some animals had to have "surgery" while others needed to have shots. Some just needed TLC. When the visit with the doctor was done, an assistant gave each child a wellness certificate for their animal and a sand bucket of goodies--suncreen, a sun hat, bandaids, etc. It was amazing and my daughter is still talking about it!
After the clinic, we enjoyed a couple of hours of playing in the museum--plenty to do!
This Children's Museum is absolutely amazing. I truly cannot say enough glowing things about it. There are so many exhibits that you will be occupied for hours. My two year old daughter and I visited this museum several times a week during an 8-week stay in New Hampshire. It was so incredibly fun! Six months later my daughter still talks about playing in the Yellow Submarine and on the Gundalow boat. This is a must-see if you have young children and are anywhere nearby. Go see it and have fun playing!!!
The Children"s Museum is a great addition to Dover - adding something else educational, creative and fun for the kids to do in this area. I have brought my grandchildren here, from 2-11 years old, and they love it...especially the Post Office! The 7 and 11 year old enjoy the Mind Over Matter, and the 4 year old twins love the archeological digging. I, enjoy the creative area where they sit and make whatever the program is at the time.
