Longs lines but worth the wait!

- December 2013

Astro Orbiter is a revolving ride in the Tomorrowland section of the Magic Kingdom. The ride itself is actually above the People Mover, so you have to take an elevator to embark. The line is always long which I contribute to the factor of the elevators and their maximum capacity. This ride is one of those run-to-it-at-rope-drop rides that will save to precious waiting in line time. The view from the ride is breathtaking and Cinderella's Castle certainly does stand out. We have ridden the ride during Wishes and it was simply stunning.

Oh My, This Ride is High!

- March 2013

The Astro Orbiter at Disney's Magic Kingdom is a classic attraction that was re-vamped in the mid 90s.  It still looks great and rides as high as ever.  In order to fly on a rocket ship, guests must board an elevator three stories high to the rocket level.

The Astro Orbiter's line moves a bit slow because 1.  it's very popular and 2.  there's an elevator ride to the rocket ships.  Once on the top level, guests board the circling 2-3 person ships and go around and around.  While I usually ride with one child and my husband rides with another, one parent can easily ride with two younger children.

The view from this ride is amazing.  Like the other circle flying rides, you can control the height of your rocket.  Unlike the other circle flying rides, the Astro Orbiter goes much faster - or at least seems like it.

This attraction is open to all ages.  However, because this ride basically towers over all the others, it's best to avoid it if you have a fear of heights.  Nevertheless, both of my girls (ages 7 & 4) love this ride.

Not the best

The line for Astro Orbiter moves incredibly slow. There is an elevator you have to take to get to the upper level where the attraction is actually located, but most of the line is at ground level.
It's basically the same thing as Dumbo or Aladdin's Magic Carpets, but faster and higher up. Those with motion sickness might want to avoid this one due to that combination. It does offer a much better view than the other two spinning attractions at Magic Kingdom.
