Immediately upon receiving these two products I was surprised by the compact size of the Sleep Eazy. To be honest, my impression of air mattresses (particularly when stored) is that they are bulky, and once removed from their original container, they are impossible to return to the original shape. The Sleep Eazy dispelled those stereotypes for me, and this was just one of the aspects of the Sleep Eazy that our family enjoyed.

Pros:
Cons:
Like I mentioned before, this air mattress comes in a very compact little bag (with handles), which makes it easy for my kids to haul to the camper without a problem. It’s not too heavy—my 7-year-old handled it easily.
We did experience a bit of a surprise when we opened it to set it up. Fortunately we opened it in preparation for naptime and not for bedtime. See, the Sleep Eazy comes with its own air pump to blow up (and vacuum out) the air. But it has to be charged! According to the instructions, it should be charged for about 12 hours. We cheated (due to the absolute necessity of naps for the littles in our family) and blew up the mattress after the pump charged for only 4 hours. So if you plan to use this air pump immediately upon arriving at your destination, you’ll want to charge the pump at home before leaving!
This was the only “hiccup” in our experience with the Sleep Eazy. The kids loved the added cushion on their normally flat camper bed. We still used their sleeping bags on top of it (partially in an effort to protect it from bedwetters, and to keep something that they were sleeping in that they’re already familiar with. Their favorite feature would have to be sleeping “on air,” and having a few bounces as they’re drifting off to sleep, too! One of my favorite features is that the plastic used to make the mattress is PVC free!

When we camp our kids are very involved in the processes—from packing the camper to breaking camp, they each have a job to do. My 9-year-old could handle removing the air from the mattress. It’s as easy as pushing a button. Our take-down time for this mattress was literally less than 3 minutes—from fully inflated to fully deflated and folded and back in the handled bag. I was VERY impressed with this product!
I will say that at $119 on the Kelty Website, this air mattress is out of my budget. But, because it touts its durability and claims to withstand high levels of abrasion, a family that is in the market for a new and long-lasting air mattress might consider this a good investment. A family looking to save some money on this purchase can go with the Kelty free-shipping option, or shop around at websites for deals on this Sleep Eazy mattress. I found one online for as little at $87.99, and for as much at $119.95.
This is a great mattress with quick setup and breakdown—sturdy enough for 2 adults to sleep on, but also fun for the kids to sleep on, too! The portability and light-weight characteristics of the bag are also a plus for families who are packing with kids who like to help!
