Review of Lost My Lovey Tags

by: LiLing Pang

Are you like me?  Have you laid awake at night imagining the scene it would be if you were to loose your child's most precious lovey.  Or are you a parent who has had the unfortunate experience of being in total panic driving hours to retrieve a lovey, or searching in vain on the internet for a replacement lovey? Then you understand the anxiety that be sets us parents when a child attaches to that special object. That’s why I was so tickled when I found out about Lost My Lovey ID Tags.

LostMyLovey.com sells handmade ID tags and provides a one of kind return service that enables a lost lovey to find his way back to your loving home.  Lostmylovey.com acts as the intermediary should that dreaded situation occur.  The bright orange and purple tags have an ID number that is registered with Lostmylovey.com. When your child's lovey is found, all the finder needs to do is go to the website and provide the unique ID.  LostMyLovey looks up your contact information and takes care of locating you. If you are traveling, they will even hold on to it until you return home or arrange to mail it to you where ever you are.

Sure you could always write a phone number and a message and attach it your child's lovey, but here are some reason why I'd buy a LostMyLovey Tag.

1) It's Cute and Looks Like A Dog Tag

An iD tag is only useful if it's noticeable when the lovey gets lost.  However, your child could very well protest at the sight of a large foreign object on their lovey.  So, we tested it out with our very opinionated 3 year old. The verdict?  It went on without a hitch and hasn't come off since.  The tag looked so much like a doggy tag, something he's familiar with, that he eagerly give it to "Bunny Bear".  On our very frayed and limp Bunnybear, the big tag felt a little obstructive.  Nonetheless, because it’s made of fabric it didn’t seem to affect his “cuddability” factor.

2) It's easy to attach and can be moved from one lovey to the next

The Lost My Lovey Tag is attached with a durable and sturdy elastic band.  It was on in 5 seconds, but isn't so easy for little hands to get off.  Since it's not sewn on, you can move it from one lovey to another if you have mulitple lovies.

3) You don't have to give out any personal contact information.

You never know when you are going to loose that lovey.  It could be in a cab in Paris or it could be walking down the street in Mexico.  In any case, you have no idea who the finder is going to be.  Since Lostmylovey.com acts as the intermediary, you don't have to give out any contact information to the finder and compromise the safety of your family.

4) LostMyLovey is accessible from anywhere

It doesn't matter where you are traveling to.  LostMyLovey.com is accessible from any country as long as the finder can get online.  So, you don't have to worry if you loose the lovey at the airport in Hong Kong.  The finder can hop online and make arrangements to get your child's lovey right back to you.

I must say that as a mom, since attaching that tag to Bunnybear, I've do have added peace of mind. It would be nice if the tag also had a phone number in addition to the url, so that the finder doesn’t have to wait till he or she gets to a computer to contact Lostmylovey.com.  I also wish that they made different sizes of tags and with different types of attachements.

Each Lost My Lovey tag costs $9.95.

I highly recommend the LostMyLovey Tag! We received one bright orange one a few months ago, and I have never had peace of mind about my special need's sons' precious tiger "Ga" until now! I love the color of the tag and even with him chewing on the tag, the soft felt has held together well.

The only thing I would suggest if you purchase one yourself and have a teething child or one stuck in the oral phase of development, is to laminate the white card inside the tag that holds the information. I hadn't thought of that before we first put the tag on and within minutes, the information on the tag was a wet slobbery mess.

Luckily, the folks at LostMyLovey.com printed me up a few spare tags and mailed them right away.
I think in the future they're even adding an option to have them laminated beforehand, but because of the toxins present in some of the laminating products, they wanted to leave it up to the individual parent on how to handle or purchase it, which is an excellent idea!

I do agree with TravelPangs that different sizes would be wonderful, and even a few more color options, but if you're looking for something to keep your little one's lovey safe, this is it!
