The website does not suggest to take children under seven. We are traveling with a 2 year old and a 4 year old and would like to see this. Are we allowed to? If so will it still be enjoyable?
It looks like anyone of any age can go to the US Mint, but Trekaroo families think that it's best appreciated by children 5 and up.
Yes, ibelieve any age can go in, they won't turn you away, but as far as a quality visit, it is most definitely better with older kids. My daughter just went last year with her class of 6th graders on part of a school trip, just to give you an example, and even they had a lot of it go over their heads. It's not really what you think - seeing actual money being made right before your eyes, so I think the kids get disappointed. Then there are a lot of plaques on the wall and it talks about the history of various coins and such and the kids start to snore.
Since there are soo many more places in the city that are better for younger kids, I would tend to steer you towards them and save the Mint for when they're older and can get more out of it. Whatever you decide, enjoy!!
Camille, forgot to qualify my response by mentioning that we visited the Philadelphia branch of the U S Mint, and I was making the assumption that Denver's is set up the same way. I found ours most definitely best for the older child. Hope I've helped. :)
