Pumpkin Season is only a little over a month away and we at Trekaroo want to know where the best Pumpkin Patches in the country are. If you have been to a pumpkin patch that you think we should know about, please let me know! I am working on a story for the blog and your suggestions are all greatly appreciated. Thanks! Sharlene
I love Bates Nut Farm in Valley Center, CA, that place is a family tradition! I can't wait to go back this year. Please see my review for more info: http://www.trekaroo.com/activities/bates-nut-farm-
In Orange County, CA, it seems that there can be a pumpkin stand on every corner once October hits! We have found 3 that we really like.
1. When we have lots of time and a few extra dollars in our "adventure budget" we head to Tanaka Farms for the wagon ride and authentic pumpkin patch picking. At this beautiful farm, my kids learned were pumpkins actually come from. I like reminding them in June... I bet the pumpkins are growing at Tanaka Farms!

2. Pumpkin City. When we are wanting a carnival experience along with some pumkin fun, we head to this parking lot pumpkin patch at the Laguna Hills Mall. Loud country music, pony rides and "expensive" pumpkins are what you will find. We love riding a couple of rides and then heading home. I learned a little too late last year that there are coupons in the Pennysaver for this patch.

3. When the pennies are tight we head to Johnson's Bros. Pumpkin Patch on Jeffrey and Irvine Center Drive next to IVC. I have taken my pre-schoolers here and not spent a dime and they still had a great time. Bubbles float across the air, pre-school plastic slides are set up, an animal pen with turkeys and chickens are available, and a haunted house tunnel are all available to explore for free. Tickets are needed for the pony ride and bounce house, but the prices are good. You can still go home with a great pumpkin too!

We had a great time at the following pumpkin patches while on vacation in Charleson, SC last fall:
Boone Hall Farms - 1235 Long Point Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29465. Phone: 843/856-5366 and email: bhpsara@aol.com. The farms claim to be one of the oldest working plantations in America.
Legare Farms - 2620 Hansconbe Pt. Rd., Johns Island, SC 29455. Phone: 843/559-0788 or email: legarens@bellsouth.net. Lots of great pumpkins on display as well as pumpkin patch-pick in the field, corn maze, hay bale maze and a kid-size haybale maze, a pulled hay ride. Open to the public from October 1st-30th on Fridays 3-10pm, Saturday 10-10pm and Sunday 1-6pm. Cash or check only.
Tanaka Farms in Irvine is a family tradition for us. The patch is huge, and there are games and food and a great tractor ride. They also shoot a pumpkin from a cannon. Cheap thrills! It's usually quite warm in October too, so it's a lovely escape.
In Glendora they have a pumpkin festival once every year...its tradition for us!
Bishops Pumpkin Farm in Wheatland, CA (outside Sacramento). http://www.bishopspumpkinfarm.com/
We had the best time at Homestead Farm in Poolesville, MD. The drive to the farm is absolutely gorgeous. They do all sorts of fruits and veggies throughout the year as well. We missed apple picking by just a day or two but they had their last bushels out for purchase. You take a hay ride to the pumpkin patch and get to wander around and pick out your pumpkins. Afterwards get one of their amazing caramel apples or hot apple cider! There were photo opps everywhere, animals, and places for the kids to run. This is my Trekaroo review of it: http://www.trekaroo.com/activities/homestead-farm-
