Santa Barbara with a 5/6-month old?

We are considering taking our baby to the Santa Barbara area in the next few weeks and wanted to see if there are enough activities for someone that little? We were thinking the zoo and maybe one of the parks would be fun...

Any recommendations would be suggested, including family-friendly hotels at a reasonable price. We would like a larger room with 2 rooms so us parents can relax once baby falls asleep around 7.

Thanks for the suggestions and advice :)

Here are a couple of replies I received from my friends on facebook. I'm just re-posting, since they didn't post to trekaroo:

"I live in Santa Barbara and my favorite walk (with the stroller) starts at Shoreline Park and takes me past the harbor and covers the whole waterfront. We like to wander past the boats and out onto the breakwater at the harbor. There is a restaurant at the harbor called Brophy Bros. that has great clam chowder and fresh seafood. Fun with kids because there is a great view. Farther down the beach, past the wharf, is Chase Palm Park. Wonderful playground and an antique carousel.
If you have a framed backpack for your little one, there are some great hiking trails into the hills that are beautiful. Seven Falls is our favorite. It is a great time of year to visit!"

"Santa Barbara is the perfect place for little ones. There's the beach and ocean, the breakwater and harbor with the maritime museum, Stearns Wharf is a lot of fun to walk out on, There are so many beautiful parks in all sorts of tucked away places. The zoo is a great place too."

Additional info for SB - I wrote the comment above as well. There is a great hotel with suites right on the ocean at the wharf - http://www.harborviewinnsb.com
but if you check around, I'm sure there are some that are less pricey. I wanted to add a great resource page too
http://www.santabarbara.com
which gives you all dates for the local festivals (ie French, Greek, Lemon) as well as info for summer "Concerts in the Park". I highly recommend these!
