I'm taking of taking the grand kids to Disneyland, but like to spend as little as possible. What are all of your best money saving tips for visiting Disneyland on a budget.
If you plan on spending a few days at Disneyland Park, you could do a character breakfast at the Disneyland Hotel one day and then hang out at the pool at the hotel. That would save admission to the park for one day but the kids would still get the "disney" fix. Whenever I go, the kids are always dissapointed that they never have time to go swimming in the hotel pool.
I'm a fan of using a software product called RideMax that lets you plan out your in-park itinerary. We used it to get the maximum amount of fun in just one day at Disneyland. You pick the rides you want, your style (i.e. super fast, relaxed), and it provides you with an itinerary that fits your style and minimizes the time spent waiting in line. http://www.trekaroo.com/traveltips/tip/more-disney
You didn't say how old your grandkids are but just in case...If you have a Disney Visa, you can can get up to two complimentary stroller rentals a day (single strollers) at the Disneyland Resort. We did this on our last trip to DL in April and it saved us about $10/day. DL is a lot of walking for little kids, even kids who may have given up the stroller at home (like our ds who was 5 at the time) find they need to take a load off their feet while there. Plus, they are super easy to push!
I bought Disney note pads at target and used those for autographs. They were only $1.00!
I bring my own snacks for most meals, and just buy one special meal if it's in the budget.
