How do you bath baby without a baby bathtub while on vacation? In the sink, hold baby in the shower, or take a bath with baby? Anyone do this without the help of another adult?
I always take along one of those baby bath sponges (the type that are sometimes in the shape of a teddy bear) and put that in the tub or half in and half out of the sink. One time I forgot to bring it and we folded up a bunch of towels and placed them in the tub and ran water over them.
I think those inflatable 'tubs' for pedicures would work great. Wish I had thought of it when my kids were little. We always made do and just used the sink or tub.
I found my son loved a plain simple sponge bath. I used a really wet washcloth and layed him on a simple hotel towel to absorb the lightly soapy water, we played tickle bug and he was safe and sound on the bed while I gave him a good cleaning. I had another wet washcloth right next to me for his rinse cycle, it was quick, easy and full of giggles.
i just bring a travel tub that is very light and folds easy. I had this issue many times and it is a pain trying to bath with no tub. The worst was last year we went on a cruise when my daughter was 8 mo and they don't have tubs there only small showers and she hated it!! We go to Disney 3 times a year so taking the travel tub has become very very easy. We go the foam one from babies r us and love using it for travel.
Even at home, I frequently showered with my babies. If there is no other adult, it can be the safest way to get both momma & baby clean in the minimum amount of time. Go easy on the soap, and/or sit down to rinse. My babies liked it, and we kept it up as toddlers. It was much easier on my back & knees, instead of kneeling next to the tub.
We also brought an inflatable tub which was perfect or showered with our little guy. Definitely go easy on the soap, but you should be fine by yourself. Just have lots of towels ready when you come out of the shower if you're doing it alone. If there's a bathrobe, that often helps keep you warm as you towel off your baby.
Thanks for all you replies. Did any of you ever ask if your hotel has a baby bathtub you could borrow? Have you ever had a hotel stock this amenity? Is this something that would be helpful for hotels to carry or is really not a big deal for most moms? (any excuse to cuddle with baby...)
