"Incredible Atmosphere"

We just at at T-Rex for the first time and highly recommend it. As others have said, the food is pricey, but you are paying for the atmosphere. We sat in the "ice cave," which turns colors from purple to blue every few minutes. There are giant animatronic dinosaurs everywhere as well as wooly mammoths. A meteor shower happens every 20 minutes or so.

This is owned by the same folks who do Rainforest Cafe, but I think is just a touch nicer than Rainforest. There is a dinosaur fossil dig section outside of the gift shop where kids can unearth pretend fossils. You can build your own dinosaur as well.

This is the kind of place that makes you want to splurge and blow your whole budget while visiting Orlando. For example, the alcoholic drinks cost $13 but come in Very Cool glasses that you can keep. (I got a less expensive, non-alcoholic drink in a giant dinosaur foot). Some of the glasses even lit up and sparkled!

If you stay at a hotel in the Downtown Disney vicinity, they will give you a coupon book with a coupon for this restaurant good through the end of 2011. Book early through Disney's reservation system (407/WDW-DINE) to obtain a reservation.

I agree with what others have said... when the meteor shower happens, small children may be frightened of all the noise and movement. But my 4-year old loved it.

"A MUST do for dinosaur lovers!"

My 4 yr old daughter is a HUGE dinosaur freak and this Cafe was perfect for her! I thought she'd be scared of the meteor shower but she loved it! It does get dark and loud during it so not good for little ones!
We have went twice and its a must do for all dino lovers!

"Incredibly Unique "

We love the T-Rex Cafe.  We make sure to visit each time we are in Orlando.  The blue room is a pretty cool seating area, but we have also been able to enjoy the "rainforest" section, as well.  I was able to eat butterflied shrimp during our last visit and it was spectacular!  Great service and the lines moves quickly.

"Even waiting for our table was fun"

My kids really enjoyed digging for fossils while we waited for our table. I think it was genius of them to have that set up. It was a lot of fun and they didn't even want to leave when our table was ready.
This restaurant is a great treat for dinosaur fans. It may scare some kids so think about your kids personalities before going. There were a few times my guys were a bit unsure.

"Fun, fun, fun!"

This was our first dining experience on Disney property and we loved it! T-Rex is a dinosaur themed resturant. It is a large, somewhat loud atmosphere. You walk into a large "cave" the lighting is very dim and there are dinosaurs everywhere. Every so often, the dinosaurs come to life ... the move around a bit, the eyes light up, they growl. This could be a bit scary for very young kids, but my boys loved it. The food was pretty good, but the atmosphere definitely made this a fun place to be. I would highly recommend this place to families.

"T-Rex with a Toddler"

We had a blast at T-Rex when our son was 20 months old.  I would highly recommend it for children and adults of all ages.  The food is pricey (as you might expect) but we felt it was well worth the experience.  And it was very tasty!  I would caution parents to be prepared for your child to possibly get scared during the times when all of the dinosaurs come to life, about every 20-30 minutes.  There are lots of loud sounds and movement.  Our son was frightened by it the first time but after that he thought it was great.  We didn't even have to fight him to sit still while we finished our meals because there was so much to look at, his little eyes and mind stayed busy!  I would recommend making a reservation and consider going for an early lunch or dinner in order to get in as quickly as possible.  Also, while we were inside it began raining so we came out to a soaked stroller.  Try to park in one of the shaded spots in the stroller corral to avoid this if there's a chance of rain!

"Fun for the entire family!"

Where else can you eat lunch with "living" dinosaurs and then watch the meteor strike that would change the world?  Only at the T-Rex Cafe!  This restaurant is a newer addition to the Downtown Disney area and it's one that the whole family will love.  The food is great -- try the ribs, amazing! -- and the atmosphere is really fun. Each room is a different prehistoric time period with animatronic dinosaurs and real fire.  Once every half hour, the "meteor" strikes and the dinosaurs go "extinct."  My husband and I enjoyed it as much as the kids!  This restaurant is definitely worth a visit while you are in Downtown Disney.

"Awesome"

The first time we visited T Rex we were not aware of it being added to Downtown Disney. There are dinosaurs of all ages and sizes throughout the store as well as the restaurant areas. There is a dinosaur dig to the South of the entrance and it is free which is great and the kids were there for about an hour and they still weren't ready to leave. Throughout the store you can find dino keychains, pens, fossils, building sets, clothing, jewelry, and stuffed animals as well as other items. All the things we found were reasonably priced which is great with 5 kids!
The restaurant was great. Food was good. Service was fantastic and of course very friendly. The kids were entertained with all the action going on around them from both dinosaurs and people.
Our children ranged from 6 months to 9 years last time we were there and they all had a great time. Would highly recommend the trip!

"So Cool..."

This is an awesome experience.  The food is superb, although pricey, 3A 1C was $100.00 but we got entrees, cool drinks and desert. so not terrible.  The atmosphere is incredible. the Dinosaurs are so cool and the back ground, the walls, the sound effects, just add to the fun.  There is a build a dino, by build a bear in the lobby, very cute and fun.  But cost about $60 to build a dino complete with outfit.  Mine was totally worth it and my daughter loves hers too!... :)

"Roarrrrr!"

Much like the Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney, dining in T-Rex Cafe makes your little one feel like they are dining with the dinos because you are surrounded!  There are a couple of interactive things for the kids like a Discovery Dig, but my kids' favorite?  The ability to build their own dinosaur in the Build a Dino Build a Bear Workshop!  Most of the meals are about 15-18 dollars.  Definitely make a reservation before you go.  We went and waited almost 2 hours to get in without a reservation.  Luckily it was about 5 and we just got a snack and wandered Downtown Disney while we waited.
