Japanese food in La Jolla can be pricey or the establishments too fancy really for a casual outing with kids. Sushi Mori in La Jolla Shores is an exception. We just went for an early lunch with my preschooler. They have booths and a kids menu. I didn't order off the kids menu as she shared my bento box while I also ordered an incredible crab roll. I think it was called the real crab roll. My husband also had excellent fresh yellowtail sushi.
Anyway, I couldn't get over how nice they were to my daughter. At separate intervals they brought her training chopsticks, a sushi shaped lolipop and at the end, the chef made an orange into the shape of Mickey Mouse which she just loved.
The food is not the best Japanese in the world, but it's very good and the people are nice. I will say that I think my daughter's lemonade might have been Crystal Light, but I can live with that because she had such a good time and, therefore, so did we. We'll definitely go back.
