Finding an affordable restaurant for a family meal out in Alaska can be tough. Not only is the Railway Cantina affordable, it is delicious! It is an order-at-the-counter type of place, with about 8 tables plus counters with barstools lining the walls. If you are lucky enough to get a spot at the counter that looks out the front window, the kids will happily watch the harbor and street traffic pass by while you eat.
The menu includes burritos and quesadillas with creative fillings like reindeer sausage (try it, you'll love it) and steak with blue cheese sour cream. The kids menu is simple (cheese quesadilla or bean and cheese burrito), and if your kids are younger two can probably share one order. They have a small selection of beer on tap and wine, and even serve up banana pudding nachos for dessert.
Our family of four was able to enjoy a complete meal including adult beverages for around $30, which is a steal in Alaska. There are so many items on the menu that we'd like to try that we will definitely return next time we're in Seward.
