The Pinnacle Grille is a nice casual place to grab a bite to eat. My family of five stayed nearby and this was ultra-convenient. We ate here twice, both times during their lunch hours. We were able to get a table very quickly (we were here in January), and we did note that in nicer weather you could eat at their patio seating which seemed like a nice option. Inside there were TVs with the latest games on so sports enthusiasts would be happy to be able to view the action while dining. Our waitress was friendly and answered our questions about the menu. She was attentive and we didn't have to look for her when we needed something.
Our food was good and the prices were reasonable. My kids enjoyed the child-friendly menu complete with the usual choices. I would definitely recommend a trip to the Pinnacle Grille if you are in this part of Scottsdale or after a trek up Pinnacle Peak. It's a great little place to dine as the food is good and able to be customized to your taste. I liked that I had a lot of freedom with the burger or chicken choices and they offered salads or other entrees as well. We noticed that there were several groups dining together here, so it looked like it was very accommodating to friends or small meet-ups. If you're in the mood for a good meal in this part of town, make the trip to Pinnacle Grille!
I usually like everything--but I found this place to be a tacky tourist trap. I found it in Frommer's and thought it would be a fun place for our 8-year old.
The restaurant is a bit farther out--so give yourself plenty of time to get there--especially because it gets pretty dark on those back roads at night. When you pull up, the kids will probably like the exterior and interior. The restaurant is built like a Western Cowboy town, which actually fronts a huge restaurant complex complete with shop, photos of famous diners (George Bush, John McCain, etc.). The exterior makes for some great family photos, so if possible arrive when it's not so dark outside.
When you enter the restaurant, there's a pet rattlesnake, and a bench so the little ones can get up close and personal and see it! There's also sawdust on the floor, a live band and a ceiling full of neckties--WARNING--don't wear one inside, because they'll cut it off and add it to the ceiling!
The food was awfully average--expect burgers, ribs and steaks. If you're in the mood for a restaurant where the atmosphere outweighs the food, then this is worth the drive.
