"Another really good hole in the wall"

Miki is one of the few Japanese restaurants with a Japanese chef in the kitchen. Most Japanese restaurants in San Francisco have Chinese chefs back there.  We were recommended by this place by our Japanese friend.  We've been there several times and their sushi rolls are flavorful and sushi melts in your mouth.  They taste fresh.  Portion size seems to be a little smaller lately, but food is still good.  We've brought our kids there when they were 5 years old and 3 months old, no issues.  It's a small restaurant, only about 8-9 tables at the most. There is only one chef back there so service can be slow.  I've heard that it is quicker when you order to go, but minimum order of $8 is required.

Orders we've tried and really liked:
-Beef flavored with soy sauce and butter (I guess anything with butter is good; the beef is tender and tasty.)
-Spicy tuna/avocado crunch rolls
-Dragon roll
-Hamacchi Toro Nigiri - this one is actually tastes ok to us
-Catepillar roll
-Tuna Yukke Don without raw egg

Their bento box is ok, nothing more special than other Japanese places we've tried.  If you go at lunch, it's cash only.  Prices are average.

We like this little restaurant and will come again.  They do close between 2-5pm, so avoid these hours if you do come.  Limited seats, so plan ahead and come early.  Regular parking spots can be challenging to find, but there are metered parking spaces.
