As far as the major chains go, Mellow Mushroom is still one of the better onese down here. If youve been to one this one is no different. Mel & the gang adorn the walls and you get the hippy dippy trippy theme.
The kids pizzas are fairly simple which is a good thing. The reason I say that is that the pizzas here can be somewhat eclectic. If youve been to a california pizza kitchen, think like that but not gourmet and more flower power. The pizza dough is one of the best in my opinion. I love the saltwater wheat dough, it just tastes better than the dough used in other chains.
If your not into pizzas, the salads are good too. I just get a half order with my pizza but its as big as a regular salad in more other places. Try the calzones as well, especially if you enjoy the dough too. They have an assortment of sandwhiches as well but I havent had any of them.
While heading down to the beach this is a good place to stop on the way. Good food & laid back atmosphere. Plus wont you be eating mostly seafood the rest of the trip?
This is a pizza restaurant that is not your typical pizzeria . It is done in a hippy theme and is very upbeat and clean. It has a more natural look to the settings and music is soft in the background not overpowering. Our kids were 2 and under when we took them there and it was kid friendly. They tore through the bread sticks and nibbled on what we bought for us adults. Personally I can't go there without caving in and getting one of their calazones. These are absolutely huge and you can have it made with or without just about anything you want on it. The pizza dough has a sweet taste to it , and for the money you spend you get enough to fill up on and still enough to take home for another meal.
