We decided to eat lunch at Manzanita while skiing and snowboarding at Northstar, in order to skip the lunch crowds at the base lodge. What a relaxing and delicious meal! The only problem: we wanted a long nap afterward!
Families skiing for the day can leave their skis and boards with the Ritz Carlton ski valet adjacent to the slopes and easily walk over to the restaurant (ski boots welcome!). It was a nice day, so we opted to sit on the nearly-empty patio overlooking the Big Easy chair, but quickly got chilly once we sat down. Our server had no problem moving us inside.
The interior of Manzanita is just gorgeous, with warm wood accents and a cozy fireplace. We sat in a casual booth and ordered the charcuterie plate as an appetizer. The kids inhaled it! I tried the French onion soup, which was delicious, then we all shared a few entrees: the caesar salad with salmon, the grilled cheese, and the squash porridge. The latter sounds like something they'd eat in Oliver Twist, but was in fact the most delicious stew we'd ever tried! Definitely order it!
We loved everything, and were too full for dessert. We were able to get in and out in under an hour, and really appreciated the relaxed atmosphere (no carting cafeteria trays and fighting crowds here!). We'll be back for sure!
Disclosure: our family was hosted at Manzanita for the purpose of review.
