Lambert's is a restaurant that has a mission of fun starting with the wooden train out front and carried through by an entertaining staff and quirky traditions. Kids and parents love the combo of dinner and a show!
Ready for some good southern cooking? Definitely head on over here. If youve ever eaten at Cracker Barrel you have an idea of the type of food they serve here.
The difference here is the food has a homemade taste & its good. Also they have whats called "pass arounds" small sides that you can get as much of that you want. Some good, fried okra, some bad, Collard greens, & some just weird, Tomatos and Macaroni? Im not a fan of collards, so they could be good but I like my macaroni with cheese, so tomotoes are just weird to me. Ah the fried onions and pototes are great too, definitely a worthy side to your meal.
What am I forgetting? Throwed rolls? Oh they get their own paragraph. As this is the starring attraction. This is what the people come for & this is what they want. Depending on the day and the roll guy (almost always a guy!) you can have a good or bad experience. He will either chuck them across the room or just slightly toss them to you in front of your table. It can be very entertaining or just very dull. The rolls themselves are big fluffy yeast rolls & they are very yummy. When the pass arounds come, you have got to try them with some molasses (just tastses like thick syrup) or apple butter. You wont be able to eat the rolls plain ever again!
Now why did I knock off one star for this awesome restaurant? *warning yelling ahead* THEY DO NOT TAKE CREDIT CARDS!!! This is a cash or check venue only, after all these years youd figure theyd change that. There is however an ATM in the lobby, but its from a non name bank, so be warned that you'll pay a fee to use & a fee from your bank.
This is a must visit & they are packed out during the busy seasons for a reason. Come hungry as you will leave full. Lastly the prices, theyre great for the amount of food. Its amazing theyre so decent with the amount of visitors they get. Our Family of 4 usually leaves the table happy and full, with leftovers for around $40 & thats with a tip! You really cant beat that!
If you haven't been to Lambert's Cafe, it is definitely worth a trip! The restaurant calls itself "Home of throwed rolls" and my kids just love it! They think it is pretty cool that the servers throw food, in a restaurant no less!
The food is excellent and the servings are HUGE. There is something for everyone, but it is mostly southern style food. In addition to the meal and the sides that come with the meal, servers walk around the restaurant with additional sides that are unlimited. No one should walk away hungry!
This is very unique dining experience perfect for young children and older alike! I've been twice, and I have enjoyes the food and the throwing of rolls each time! The food is delicious! Think- traditional, southern style food. The waiters are really friendly as well. We definitely plan on going back!
Your kids will love having people throw rolls at them at Lambert's. It's okay if you miss too!! You recieve HUGE portions of food so think about splitting a meal. To save money, we let the kid's split a meal. They have good home cooking and you should expect a long wait at noon and dinner!!
This is definitely an entertaining place to go, young and old alike! We went when our oldest was 2, and it kept him entertained. The food is southern home style (and wonderfully prepared, I might add!), and the staff is warm and friendly. Of course, the thing that Lambert's is famous for is throwing the rolls at you, and boy can they throw! Of course, there are may other surprises in this restaurant that you'll just have to wait and see!
My oldest child was 3 and my baby was 4 months last time we went here. A fussy baby is no problem in this atmosphere and the staff goes out of their way to be friendly and courteous and helpful with the kids. They have jokes they enjoy playing on adults and kids alike. But they make sure to not do it if you let them know if you have children who startle easy. You get more than your money's worth in both price and quality. We have always brought home leftovers.
This restaurant is so much fun with kids.
Even if you have to wait for a table, there is a wooden train outside for children to climb and play on.
The food is endless, and the most exciting thing is when you hear a voice yell "HOT ROLLS! HOT ROLLS!"; that means to put up your hand and get ready to catch a flying roll! Of course they tossed it a little more gently when my then 3-year-old wanted to catch. They also have staff roaming around the restaurant doing silly jokes and pranks.
I'm a vegetarian and I get the veggie plate where you can pick 4 vegetables, plus have access to the "pass arounds", things like macaroni and tomatoes, fried okra (YUMMMM!), country fried potatoes and onions (oh my lanta, I could eat my weight in those!), and something else, maybe corn?
I hope I can go again some day, my kids really loved it!
Kids will love this restaurant because if you want a roll they throw it at you...from across the room! Raise your hand when you see the rolls and make sure you catch it! The servers have pretty good aim! The meals can be a bit pricey, but the fried chicken is a hit with my family. Each day, Lambert's has different pass arounds. The servers walk around with big bowls of sides and plop them on your plate.
