On one of Squaw Valley’s classic bluebird days, there’s no better place to soak up the sun than on the KT Base Bar. Enjoy a refreshing beverage and look out on the slopes to watch skiers and riders ascend Squaw Valley’s famous KT-22 expansive terrain. Enjoy one of the many new food offerings like snowboard flatbreads and KT Rings and expansive firepits.
The only thing this place really has going for it is location, location, location. It's at the base of KT. On a sunny day with enough sunscreen applied and the right beverage, this spot makes for some great skier and boarder watching.
The food and the service however, leave a lot to be desired ---- and I mean A LOT! Patrons can go into the building to order what supposed to be a Pesto Chicken Sandwich (I couldn't find more than a tiny dollop of pesto in it) and a rubbery hamburger among other dreadful stuff that is supposed to be food. There's also table service out on the patio. An inattentive server will bring your selection of Mexican food that most likely came from Costco. Bleck!
When it came time to leave and we wanted to pay for whatever we ordered through on the patio, we spent so much time flagging down the server it was amazing that small aircraft pilots didn't mistakenly believe they were cleared for landing!
Bottom line: This place is so reliant on its exterior packaging, it lacks substance.
