Restaurant
The restaurants location in the center of town is excellent for taking advantage of other great things in Stowe. You can pop around the corner to the Malt Shop for an ice cream treat, go sledding on Marshall Hill, the bike path is close by or come here after a day of skiing .
We ate at Frida’s based on a Trekaroo recommendation. It was busy when we arrived even though it was late, but we waitied only a short time before being seated. The restaurant is dotted with art and collections featuring Frida Kahlo so in addition to eating there is a great cultural lesson as well.
There was a kids menu that my youngest daughter ordered a quesadilla from; although it was tasty she was full from the tableside guacamole and salsa sampler we ordered. The guacamole was right up our alley and all of the salsas were tasty.
Frida’s offers both traditional Mexican restaurant fare, but also variety of different entrees including cod tacos, oyster tacos and beef tacos if you’re up for some adventure. I stuck with the chicken chimi and although I loved it I was filled up on chips from our apps.
This restaurant is hopping, so parking is difficult to obtain and only an issue if you don’t know where you are going or have trouble walking. The environment though boisterous is kid friendly> we encountered plenty of families while we were eating.
Being in Stowe prices are typically higher, but Frida’s is a reasonably priced yummy option.
Frida's wholeheartedly accepted our party of 14, 6 of which were kids ages 8 months - 11 years old. Not to mention it was President's day and the place was hoppin'. They have highchairs and booster seats, a kids menu and serve drinks in kid cups with lids and straws. Bummer that the bathroom doesn't have a changing table. I'd like to say you could wheel your stroller in there and use that because there certainly is room, but you'd have to make through the crowded bar area first with that stroller.
The food is awesome. The kids were eating off the regular menu too. The babies were munching on black, re-fried and pinto beans. Plus when they made the guacamole table-side the server was happy to accommodate our request for a scoop or two of plain avocado for the toddlers.
If you do take-out from here, be forewarned that they automatically add on a 10% gratuity.
