After revamping the interior of the hotel one might come to believe that the restaurant would be one of the major hubs of activity. Unfortunately this is not the case with the Brixton pub inside the Radisson Phoenix North.
While the interior design of the restaurant is great, it doesn't seem to draw the hotel guests as you'd think it would.
The layout used by the restaurant didn't allow for patio seating but I did notice a table or two on a patio that would have been nice to sit at as it was seasonable outside.
There is a door to the exterior so people can just eat at the restaurant or have a cocktail at the bar, which is nice however the location of the restaurant is a walk from the hotel's courtyard which, takes awayfrom the ability to take full advantage of the warm nights, Arizona so often has.
My Family and I had two meals there. One breakfast, and one dinner. The breakfast was a choice between A la carte, off the menu, or the buffet. The rest of the family had the buffet which was a step above a continental breakfast. I ordered off the menu. The menu item, in this case Huevos Rancheros, was delicious, if very traditional.
The breakfast was fairly busy. At least as relative to the dinner period. As the dinner was comped, reservations were made for us at 6. Turns out we didn't need reservations. We were the only ones in the restaurant. A smattering of people were at the bar, but it bears repeating we were the only ones. This was not just the case for when we sat down it remained the case throughout our meal.
It took a moment for me to realize why we weren't getting service. The bartender was also the waiter. He noticed we were sitting in the restaurant and came to greet us. He offered to children's menus for the kids and then came back to tell us he did not have kids menus available. To his credit, he recited everything on the kids menu from memory. Between refilling our glasses and attending the people at the bar this waiter/bartender was all over the place and doing as great a job as you could possibly expect.
The meals were fantastic. Everything was cooked exactly as we asked and even the kids orders were spot on which is a feat given the fact that I have two picky eaters.
There are makings of a great restaurant here, however the layout, and lack of staff detracts from some pretty great dinner fare, and impressive menu items on the breakfast side.
*My family was offered a weekend stay at the Radisson Phoenix North in exchange for my thoughts, opinions. A comped dinner was arranged for my family and I and our breakfast was comped after the fact. The thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
