We walked up and down the streets of Skagway, window shopping and trying to decide on a place that would be fine for a kiddo and his starving parents to fill up at and maybe even enjoy! Well, wouldn't you know, after walking the street up and down SEVERAL times, we decided to venture into the restaurant directly adjacent to our hotel (The Westmark).
We were totally pleased with our decision! The waitstaff was very friendly -- we really like it when they go the extra mile to interact with our child instead of just taking his order and not humoring his silly question or short burst of excited story tidbits. The waitress here was really welcoming to kids--huge points for that in our world!
The food? Excellent. I was in a bit of a pulled pork phase during our travels and so every place that offered some kind of shredded BBQ meat sandwich ranked high for me, but the Bonanza had a delicious offering -- with some really awesome rootbeer on hand as well! Great combination!
The music was lively but not too loud - so we could still converse as a family. The dining area was situated so that you weren't belly-up to the bar, making it a more family-friendly atmosphere.
All-in-all, prices were fair, food was wonderful and the service was superb, so it met all of our needs, filled our bellies and ended up being one of our favorite stops while in town! Highly recommend skipping the Onion across the street (or just do the tour and leave) and stop in at the Bonanza instead -- where they have more than a few selections on the menu and a far smaller crowd!
