Their specialty is tempura battered Fish and Chips. But their jumbo scallops and clam chowder are also huge favorites. On the weekends, the take out shack is open and you can buy some take out and dine on one of the picnic benches or on the beach right behind the restaurant.
I started going to Barbara's Fishtrap since I got my license in as a 16-year-old in 1982. I have fond memories of eating there with my family every few months. I still go there every now and then and am always pleased. Prices are reasonable and kids should enjoy it as well.
Fish and Chips is one of my all time favorite foods. However, I was always disappointed at not being find anything in the bay area that was comparable to the yummy stuff I found in the UK...well, until I discovered Barbara's Fish Trap. The fish is fresh and flaky. But the tempura crust is simply perfect. Light and crispy. The jumbo scallops are even more amazing. Clam chowder not overly creamy and full of clams. The long lines on weekends are a drag and it is the most expensive fish and chips you can buy as take out (they have a sit down restaurant too). But it's totally worth it!
