Oahu is by far the most populated island in the Hawaiian chain. More than 875,000 of the state’s 1.2 million residents live here. Honolulu is home to the state capitol, the financial district, medical centers, and universities. It’s also home to Diamond Head Crater, Punchbowl Cemetery, Pearl Harbor, and Waikiki Beach. First-time visitors expecting Waikiki and Honolulu to be an idyllic, tranquil island paradise had better be prepared for a city that also has a frenetic pace and an accelerated pulse.
