Overview

The Front Range region of Colorado includes part of the Rocky Mountains and was the first area the settlers inhabited as they traveled from the east. North of Denver, the Front Range is home to Boulder and Rocky Mountain National Park.

Driving is definitely the easiest way to get around Colorado, but be sure to have chains in the wintertime and plenty of gas in the summer. Cars burn fuel faster at higher altitudes. Also be sure to keep the kids well hydrated. You might also consider acclimating to the higher elevation by staying a night or two in Denver before heading into this region.
