About Me & My Family

My family and I are definite road-trippers. Ever since my kids were in diapers, we thought nothing of riding around with our kids all day exploring new locations. Thankfully, as they have gotten older, they have retained their "road tripping" spirit, which is wonderful. I look forward to lots more trips with my family. I love creating memories with them!!

"Interesting spot!"
We just visited this park over the weekend and it was definitely an interesting place. I've never visited a sinkhole before, so that was pretty cool. The place itself is very wooded and beautiful. The trees all have hanging moss, so it looks completely picturesque.

In order to get down to the sinkhole, you must walk down lots of steps, which isn't bad going down, but coming back up.... let's just say this would be the perfect time to take your pictures. Stop at every few landings, take pictures, BREATHE (LOL) and then keep making your way up. It's super relaxing and almost meditative once you get to the bottom of the sinkhole.

I wouldn't recommend this for families with more than one small child as you really need to hold their hands as they're walking down the steps. After a while, the steps start to all blend in, so it's easy to miss a step and trip.

Recommendation: Definitely visit this spot. It's beautiful, it's only $4 to get in, you'll have an opportunity to be one with nature, and now you can go home and tell everyone that you visited a sinkhole!

"Titanic: The Experience The Most Meaningful Attraction in Orlando, FL"
I visited Titanic: The Experience in Orlando, FL on the weekend of Titanic’s 100th anniversary. My husband, kids (ages 15 and 11) and I really didn’t know what to expect from this attraction as we walked through the doors. The line was a little long when we got there, but we soon made it up to the front and got our tickets. The tickets were actually boarding passes with information about real Titanic passengers.

While we waited for our tour to begin, we walked around the front lobby and looked at some of the artifacts and replicas that were displayed. When our tour began, we watched a short movie which gave us information on what we were about to experience and some rules. Unfortunately, one of the rules was that we could not take pictures during the tour, which was a big negative for me because I love taking pictures.

After the movie, our tour guide came out to meet us dressed in early 1900s clothing and speaking with an authentic Irish accent. The tour was presented to make us feel like we were one of the Titanic passengers as we viewed the different recreated rooms, including the grand staircase replica. All of the little details successfully achieved the effect of making us feel like we were actually on board the ship. At the end of the tour, the guide asked the women and children in the tour group to stand apart from the men and informed everyone that most of the men did not survive the disaster. The tour guide then walked us step-by-step through the tragic ending of that ill-fated night.

This was truly a touching experience, particularly, when we had a chance to look up the name of the passenger on our boarding pass to see if he/she was among the survivors or deceased. Another poignant moment was when we heard recounted stories of those who survived and the trauma that they endured even after they were rescued. It was sad, but so enlightening.

Whether you are a history buff or not, this is one attraction that is a must see! It’s eye-opening and nothing else will give you such a realistic perspective of being a Titanic passenger. There’s even a giant ice block at the end that you can feel to see how cold the water was when the ship sank and many fell into the freezing waters. The tour completely transported my family back in time to 1912 and then returns us to present day with a completely different appreciation and viewpoint of the Titanic tragedy.

Here are some quotes from my kids about what they thought of this attraction:
My teenage daughter: “It was epic! It was a really engaging tour.”
My 11 yr. old son: “It was very touching and emotional. They also had really cool replicas.”

I highly recommend this attraction to anyone over the age of 10 who is visiting the Orlando area. At $21.95 per adult and $12.95 per child, this is a small price to pay to be truly enlightened about one of the world’s greatest tragedies. Not only did my children enjoy it, but it made for a deep conversation on our ride home about life, death, and appreciating the loved ones in our lives. We’ve been to plenty of Orlando attractions and none of them have caused my kids to reflect on life as this one has. This visit is worth it just for that alone!

This review is based on a complimentary visit to Titanic: The Experience. I received no other compensation besides the admission tickets, and the attraction did not state any requirements that I express a particular point of view.

"Cute restaurant, food...eh"
On our recent trip to Sanibel, the kids, hubby and I stopped to have dinner at this restaurant because I had read so many good reviews about it on other sites. When we got there, the environment lived up to the reviews. It had a tropical feel to it, casual with cool tropical music playing. We had to wait for a bit before being seated, but it wasn't too bad because we sat outside and it was very pretty out there. Our food, however, was just OK for me. I ordered a philly cheesesteak which was alright, but I've had better. The milkshakes we had for dessert were good though. Overall, you're not missing too much by not coming here.

"Small and somewhat boring"
I brought my children to this museum last summer (they were 10 and 13). The museum was very small and the interactive area was ok, but minimal. The kids got bored pretty quickly as soon as they finished exploring this area. Upstairs they had a pirate's exhibit, which was pretty cool, but again, nothing too exciting. Some of the interactive exhibits didn't work correctly or just didn't hold their attention. Overall, I was glad that I didn't have to pay for this museum (I have a family membership at one of their reciprocal partners, so I was able to get into this museum for free). It wasn't worth it.

"Ahhhhh-mazing!!"
Wow, talk about getting away from it all....this is the place to be! We rented a cute little cabin for the week and went hiking in the Smokies the first chance we got. The kids (who were 9 and 12 at the time) absolutely loved being on the mountain. We climbed the Laurel Falls trail which was just right for the kids, not too strenuous, lots of pretty views, and the waterfalls at the end of the hike (for motivational purposes). It was incredibly beautiful and definitely not a sight to be missed!
