Star ECO Station
4465 Granite Drive Suite 700,
Rocklin,
California 95677
"ECO Station"
II have driven by the ECO Station many times and often wondered what it was or is? This past Sunday I finally looked them up online. My son and grandson and I were very impressed. On entering the door to the facility you will see to the left of holding tank or lack of better words with all sorts of plant life for several types of turtles. Logan loved these guys he watched them for over an hour as they dove into the water and eat. (He is almost three). Then viewed a moderate variety of spiders on plastic aquariums along the other wall to the right of where you came through the door.

Every hour on the hour until one hour before closing time they offer a tour of the reptile, fish aquarium and parrot sanctuary. Our guide explained to us why all the creatures were there and a little about each of the species. We learned a little about ecology and recycling.

Each weekend they offer some form of activity as well as the tour. You can have a Birthday Party there as well.

It is really worth the cost of $6.00 for adult’s children under 2 are free.

I should also mention that you pay at the end of the tour, as your guide will take you right into the gift shop. I don’t think I liked that tactic of marketing but it works and people buy. They money is put to good use as it used to take care of the many animals.

Bodie State Historic Park | kids travel, kids activities
Bodie State Historic Park
State Route 270,
Bridgeport,
California
"Ghost Town"
Bodie State Historic Park:
Bodie is now a ghost town, but during 1865’s Bodie was known as one of the most furious, violent, vehement and lawless towns in the Mother Lode. The law took a back seat to this town arguments usually ended up in gun shot. Then a population of over 10,000 people resided within the town. Some $75 million dollars was taken from Bodie Butte mines. You can tour the remains in what is now a state park. See old cars and buildings post office, doctor offices and some homes still remain.
Lost of walking so be prepared and its’ a long drive from anywhere, but if you are into ghost towns this one has a lot to offer.
There is a $10 parking fee upon entrance to the park with no additional fees and there isn’t a gift shop. However you do get a souvenir booklet to keep that talks about Bodies history.

Green Bluff
Green Bluff,
Colbert,
Washington
"This should be a ten star activity"
We have been going to Green Bluff for years now. Every season is packed full of activities. From picking your own produce to playing in the Corn Patch for fall. The Cherry Pickers Trot begins the first of the years activities with each farm that belongs to the Growers Association you will find unique events and crafts. Throughout the year over and over you will find fun in every corner. Each farm lists its wares on an association pamphlet available at any farm on the Bluff. Ride a double Decker bus eat cotton candy, candy apples, or an elephant ear. Or take a ride on a horse drawn cart. Pick a pumpkin and browse from various crafters from the region.
Mostly have fun
