About Me & My Family
I am fortunate to work from home, although when the kids are not in school and pick on each other, sometimes i think otherwise. My 2 oldest kids are on their own so that leaves my 12 yr. old and 10 yr. old and finding an adventure outside of baseball & softball sometimes challenging, especially when I need to recharge my batteries.

We Just Got Back From
Santa Cruz - Aug. 09
Our Favorite Vacation Spot
Santa Cruz
A Place We'd Love To Visit
Redo - Hawaii, but this time go to Waikiki.
Favorite Vacation Memory
Watching the kids, not picking on one another, just talking, walking along the beach in Santa Cruz. Thank goodness I took pictures.
Worst Travel Moment With My Kids:
In 2000 when the kids were still babies and we went to Maui. They were 3 & 1 1/2. It was pretty difficult trying to enjoy meals when you're about to take your first bite and the little ones say, 'We're done. Let's go.' They did this w/ every meal. Ugh. Traveling w/ little ones is tough. Thank goodness they grow up, but then they transition to picking on one another. Oh man.

Coit Tower
1 Telegraph Hill Blvd,
San Francisco,
California 94133
"Views are spectacular...in SF"
(Sorry, I'm new to Trekaroo. My review of Coit Tower SF somehow got saved under Michigan. ) My oldest son (21) suggested we (incl. his 10 yr sister) trek from Chestnut St. all the way up to Coit Tower. I figured okay, it doesn't look that bad, I can handle it. Man! While we were climbing steep stairs, my legs were screaming at me. All was forgotten when we reached Coit Tower. Parking space is limited & metered, so bring your coins & be patient as I observed other folks hoping to get a open spot. My kids tried to go up the Tower, but it was closed for renovations. There is bus that goes up to Coit Tower (#39) for those who don't want their legs screaming at them.

Cable Car Ride
Downtown San Francisco,
San Francisco,
California
"Expensive ride but gotta do it..."
Whenever I have the urge to play 'Tourist' which is not often, and the kids (12/10) are game, we head to SF and try to do as much touristy stuff as we can. Once in a long while, we'll take the cable car ride, but not in the summer time, as we don't want to spend most of our time in the long, long lines. Mind you it is pricey for a one way ride, but the experience of having the cool breeze, clang of the bell, and the bumpy ride is well worth it .

Marriott San Antonio Rivercenter
101 Bowie St,
San Antonio, Texas
We stayed here in Aug. 08 to attend a convention. The hotel was nice and clean, staff real friendly and the mall is just next door. Also the entrance to the River Tour is very close. The Alamo and the Children's Museum are also nearby. We didn't need to rent a car, everything was so conveniently located, we just took taxis to/from the hotel/airport.

Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa
2552 Kalakaua Ave,
Honolulu, Hawaii
"I'll be back w/ the kids..."
I stayed here in July 08 vacationing w/ my sister w/o the kids. It was a nice break , but I'll return here w/ the kids next time as the location is ideal. The hotel is on the south end of the Waikiki strip - 2 blocks from the zoo and 1 block from the beach. Also, Starbucks is not far either, located on the corner across from the beach. I purchased a 4 day bus pass from the ABC store in the lobby and this made going around ultra convenient and a cheap way of sight seeing, we even took it going around the island.

The Santa Cruz Dream Inn - a Joie de Vivre Boutique Hotel
175 W Cliff Dr,
Santa Cruz, California
"Location, location, location"
I took the kids twice to Santa Cruz this summer ('09) and both times we stay at the Dream Inn. We love it. It's right on the beach, a short walk to the Boardwalk and an even shorter walk to the wharf. Rooms are clean, beds are comfy and the staff very friendly. We'll be coming back.
