T-Ray's Burger Station
202 S 8th St,
Fernandina Beach,
Florida 32034
"Well worth the wait"
T-Ray's Restaurant is a must for any visitor to Amelia Island, Florida. I just recommended this place to a family who visits Amelia Island every summer. They had never heard of it!

It's easy to see why: there is no sign other than “EXXON,” the sign that was already on the building when they bought the place. That's right, it was a gas station. T-Ray's no longer serves gas, but they do serve the biggest, most delicious biscuits around. I had to fight everyone from eating my biscuit.

This family-owned southern eatery is well worth the wait.

"Unique tours"
Kayak Amelia set-up a biking tour for our family (kids are 10-14 years old) through Fort Clinch State Park to hunt for shark's teeth along the beaches. I cannot say enough great things about the owners of Kayak Amelia. Knowledgeable, friendly, and just plain cool. Who knew that there were goblin sharks who have narrow teeth the size of a toothpick.

In addition to bike rentals and tour, Kayak Amelia also offer kayak and canoe tours.

"Beautiful resort property"
Amelia Island Plantation, a beautiful resort property on Amelia Island, Florida, offers a choice of hotel or beach condos. I have stayed in both and I have to say I prefer the hotel.

The condo my family (myself, my husband and 3 kids ages 10-14) stayed in this past summer was old and more remote. It was close to the beach, offered a kitchen and enough bedrooms to keep everyone happy but the hotel was nicer. The hotel room we stayed in was not new but well maintained with a gorgeous view of the golf course and right in the middle of everything.

Both pools and the beach were fabulous. Amelia Island Plantation offered a very active kid’s club, bike rentals, Segway rentals, golf, and a conference center. Our kids (ages 14, 12, 10) loved the Segway tour. They got to see the entire plantation and had fun doing it. Of course, after they became proficient Segway drivers, they wanted to speed up but that option is only available to older kids.

The restaurant manager bent over backwards to bring me plain yogurt with local honey and granola – served with a huge smile.
