COLONIAL HOUSES HISTORIC LODGIN
306 B East Francis Street,
Williamsburg, Virginia
"Stay in a Historic House"
The Colonial Houses Historic Lodging is an amazing way to spend a vacation at Colonial Williamsburg. You actually stay in one of the historic buildings in the middle of town. All of the furniture is antique or a reproduction, you feel like you've stepped back in time. The best part is, when you step out the door of your "hotel" your in the middle of everything Historic Colonial Williamsburg has to offer.
We stayed at the Red Brick Tavern, which is set up like your more traditional hotel with individual rooms where the doors open into a common hall. However they do have individual single family homes you can stay in for larger family groups. The guest service and ammenities were amazing, and the admission to the Historic areas in Colonial Williamsburg is included in you stay.
One of the BEST and most unique vacation experiences we've had lately.

Your typical ammusment/water park. Kind of expensive, but family (and especially kid) friendly. The water area is super fun with different pools for little guys to adults. I highly recomend the lazy river for cooling off and relaxing part of the way through your day. Wouldn't recomend taking a child who isn't walking yet, but plenty of water and other fun for toddlers on up.
Lots of roller coasters for the big kids, and Sesame Street and Kiddie rides for the little guys. One of my favorite theme parks.

National Museum of the Marine Corps
18900 Jefferson Davis Hwy,
Triangle,
Virginia 22172
My husband and I went to this Museum without our children. It's very interesting if you are/are married to a Marine Corps Vet. or you're a history/war buff. There are some cool hands on displays and activities, but mostly it's just walking, looking and reading. They do have plans for expansion though, so they may add some more kid-friendly attractions. I highly recomend it if you have been in or are thinking of joining the Corps. Semper Fi.

"Not good for really young ones."
A truely original take on a childrens museum. Lots of fun climbing, sliding and playing but I wouldn't recomend it for a child under 6. There are a lot of places for a small (or too large) person to get stuck. I went 3 years ago as a shaperone with a youth group from our church. There were a lot of tunnels to climb through and some really big slides. But I can see a child who's young or timid getting into spots and being to frightened or nervous to get out. I wish I could give more of a discription of the museum but it's one of those places you just have to see to understand.
To sum up, all in all it was fun but not for little kids or those who are out of shape. I'm of average build and my husband is skinny and there were a few spots even we had problems climbing through.

Frontier Town
8430 Stephen Decatur Hwy, Rt. 611,
Ocean City,
Maryland
"Welcome to the WILD West."
Frontier Town is an "Old West Theme Park." They offer stagecoach rides, train rides (both of which get held up during your ride), a daily bank robbery, and other wild west themed fun. You can even pan for gold. I loved it when I was a kid, but I think it's best for 5 and up. The really little guys might be frightened by the gun fire.
BTW if your gun phobic, or a big gun control buff this may not be the thing for you. They do start the day with a demonstration on how dangerous guns are,and by having everyone who's there at opening observe the damage that even a blank can do to a cardboard box at pointblank range. So they do give high priority to safety, but there is a lot of gun fire and "play" through out the day.
There's also a warter park and Mini-Golf course near by that you can get unlimited acess to for just a little more on the admission price to Frontier Town. There's also a campground and RV park you can stay at and it's all super close to Ocean City.
