The Mad Platter
2921-A Battleground Ave.,
Greensboro,
North Carolina
I'm an artsy person and fortunately, my daughter has an artsy nature to her, also. We love to choose a figure, plate, bowl, or mug, to paint. We enjoy spending two to three hours relaxing while painting. After painting the item of choice, the staff will fire and glaze your piece, and the colors come alive brilliantly. I have taken my ten year old daughter here for many years. For the two of us, we usually spend $25-$35.

Chuck-E-Cheese
620 Hanes Mall Blvd.,
Winston Salem,
North Carolina 27103
I enjoy taking my ten year old daughter, just as much as she enjoys going. I have been known to ask her if she wants to go, just so I can play some games. There are many hands on arcade games to play. My daughter loves playing the games that reward you with tickets. Use the tickets to "purchase" kid friendly toys. I'm always impressed with the cleanliness of the facility. Employs are constantly cleaning and sanitizing.
The pepperoni pizza is good, as well as the apple pizza, and the salad bar. Look online or in the coupon section of your newspaper for coupons, for a better deal. The average cost of our visit with pizza, drinks, and tokens, is about $30. It's a great place for us to visit on rainy days and cold winter days.

Lazy 5 Ranch

"Get up close and personal"
We had so much fun getting up close and personal with the animals. The ranch is home to many roaming animals. Drive your car through the ranch or ride in a wagon and feed the animals yourself. Buy several buckets of grain to feed the animals. Admission is very affordable.

Hanging Rock State Park
Hanging Rock Rd (SR2015),
Danbury,
North Carolina 27016
We enjoyed climbing Hanging Rock and looking down on the beautiful, natural landscaping. Our trip consisted of three adult women and eight tweens, ages 12 and 13. We are all physically fit and climbed the great trail, led by our guide. The girls took a break cooling off in the water, as the mountain water streamed down the rocks.

NC Zoo
4401 Zoo Parkway ,
Asheboro,
North Carolina 27205
We like to visit the NC Zoo at least twice a year, preferably in the spring and fall. The polar bears and seals are always a favorite to watch. View from the top deck outside or walk below to watch the animals swim. The tram is great when the family is pooped from walking all day. Ride between the North America and South America exhibits or simply ride to get back to your car. Admission is very affordable.
