South Seas Island Resort | kids travel, kids activities
South Seas Island Resort
5400 South Seas Plantation Rd,
Captiva, Florida
"Capturing Captiva"
We took my father down to Captiva (off the coast of Ft.Myers, just past Sanibel) for a long weekend to celebrate his 65th birthday. South Seas is a huge place neatly divided into many parts. Very friendly to kids of all ages with the main attraction being the sizable pool area (growing even bigger-a water park is under construction). The nearly deserted beach, tennis courts, golf and marina hold even bigger kids and adults captivated. South Seas offers a wide array of lodging--providing options for those with varying budgets and very smartly, varying family sizes. The food is adequate for this type of resort and each restaurant has menus, crayons and special cups for young kids. One drawback is that they are a bit pricey and because of the island's isolation you don't have much choice other than hotel grub. All in all, our 2 year old had a blast during the days and slept well at night. So did Mom and Dad and so did Grandpa and Grandma. It's hard to ask for much more from a quick long weekend. A fun and isolated place to check out for a few days as a family or as part of a big group of friends. Enjoy!!
