Nina's Sweet Shop
179 Canada Street,
Lake George,
New York
""Life is Uncertain... Eat Dessert First!""
While you are strolling down Canada Street, which is the “main strip” of Lake George, you absolutely have to stop into Nina’s Sweet Shop. This adorable shop has case after case and display after display of delectable treats. Nina’s sells a variety of ice cream treats including sundaes, shakes and cones, as well as several delicious confections including salt water taffy, cotton candy, fudge, lollipops, cotton candy, cookies, and more! There is something for everyone and if you still can’t make up your mind, Nina’s friendly and attentive staff will happily help you make your selection. My daughter, Queen Sweet Tooth, was in Sugar Heaven with the Pink Vanilla Cotton Candy she ordered, and my husband was more than pleased with his thick and creamy chocolate milk shake. Being Miss Indecisive with so many eye-pleasing choices, I ordered a variety of salt water taffy and fudge which we all took great pleasure in nibbling on throughout the rest of our day. As it says above the door, “Life is Uncertain…. Eat Dessert First!

Lumberjack Pass Miniature Golf
Route 9,
Lake George,
New York
When you are taking a rest from the water fun of Lake George, consider a trip to Lumberjack Pass Mini Golf. This course features eighteen holes of golf with water hazards and real sand traps. It has been voted #5 on the list of 10 Craziest Mini Golf Courses on Earth (entertainmentdesigner.com), and is “the closest thing to being on the golf course” (according to their website). While the course itself was a little too challenging for our four-year old, my husband and I did enjoy seeing how awful of golf players we could be. We generally prefer miniature golf courses that are not so much like “real” golf, however, I noted that families with children older than ours having a great time seeing who could maneuver the course the best. The course offers fine water misters to cool down under, which was a huge hit with my child (during our visit the temperature was in the high 90’s). It also offers ball washers to wash your ball if it gets caught in a sand trap and we certainly used those after nearly after hole! I also noticed, with great pleasure, that the entire course is wheel-chair and stroller accessible. Lumberjack Pass also offers a snack bar with burgers and chicken, kid’s meals, and ice cream treats. Finally, make sure to check their website before your visit as they have a coupon section with deals you can print. Fore!

LG Steamboat Company – Dinner Cruise, Lac du St Sacrement
57 Beach Road,
Lake George,
New York
""Wonderful cruise to see Lake George at it's finest""
For a great meal, live music and a fabulous tour of Lake George, we recommend taking a cruise with the Lake George Steamboat Company. They offer many different cruise options, including with or without meals for lunch or dinner, as well as moonlight cruises, fireworks cruises, and even specialty cruises, such as an Elvis dinner cruise! We had the pleasure of taking a dinner cruise with our four-year old daughter. Contrary to what you’d think, you’re actually served your meals while the boat is at dock. Attentive staff was available with drinks and refills, and the buffet meal, which offered various foods to appeal to adults and children alike, ended with a delicious dessert and coffee. Live music played throughout our meal and during the cruise, and the boat offers many different areas to enjoy the views of Lake George’s various islands and shorelines. Throughout the cruise, which lasts a little over two hours, we moved around a few times to see all the boat had to offer, including a gift shop. There’s also a dance floor which was especially popular with the children. The cruise was a tad too long for our child’s short attention span, but luckily we had crayons with us and she happily colored while my husband and I enjoyed the incredible views. Whether you choose a cruise with or without a meal, this is a must-do if you’ve never been out on Lake George.

Adirondack Extreme Adventure Course, LLC.
35 Westwood Forest Lane,
Bolton Landing,
New York 12814
""Adirondack Extreme- Awesome!""
For something out of the ordinary, try the Adirondack Extreme Adventure Course. A few miles from Lake George, this facility is in the Town of Bolton Landing. It offers extreme obstacle courses that are elevated and suspended between trees at heights of ten to fifty feet! They offer full courses for the adults, half adult courses for ages 9-11, as well as a Little Adventurers course for children ages seven and up. For our four-year old, the Squirrels Den was the perfect place to play. Located next to the main lodge, this cedar log playground boasts over 20 unique climbing stations designed to the challenge the dexterity of even the most skilled climbers, ages three through ten. Spiral stair climbers, rock wall climbers, bridges and wave slides are just a few of the challenges your little dare-devil will experience. Since it was just myself, my husband and our daughter, we opted to only experience the squirrels den. We would’ve loved to experience the adult challenge course but wanted to experience it together and we did not have someone to watch our daughter. If this is an activity you’d like your family to experience, I’d recommend having one person who does not want to try the challenge course to be in charge of your children under seven so everyone can experience their own challenges. A final word of advice- since the facility is located on private property, your GPS most likely will not be helpful. Follow the instructions on the website or call and the staff will be more than helpful in providing you with accurate directions to their facility.

The Fun Spot
1035 US Route 9,
Queensbury,
New York
""Go-Karts, Laser Tag, Roller Skating & Indoor Playground!""
A few miles down the road from Lake George, The Fun Spot offers entertainment that’s sure to please children and adults alike. The facility offers Go-Karts, Adventure Golf, Roller Skating, an Indoor Playground, as well as Laser Tag. Our four-year old opted to try out the Indoor Playground, and she had a blast maneuvering her way around the many fun obstacles inside. She then decided to try her hand at Roller Skating. This was an interesting adventure, as it was her first time, and I helped her along (not wearing skates). The staff member that skates along to make sure all is OK was kind enough to lock her wheels a bit and we had a much easier time at it. I very much appreciated that somebody was paying attention. The facility also has a food bar that offers basic snack bar fare as well as ice cream novelties and cold drinks. They also have socks for purchase if you forget to bring your own as well as various ticket packages if you want to try more than one activity. When you go, a helpful tip- you don’t have to purchase your tickets at the main entry. You can instead walk through the main entry and purchase your tickets at the snack bar, which didn’t seem to be as crowed as the front entry.
