About Me & My Family
What's to say... we're a very typical family, living in the burbs. We love camping, boating, fishing, hunting. We're very "meat & potatoes" kinda people. We like to travel, but our trips are 100% "car trips".
Our Family's Travel Personality
curious, disorganized, simple, independent, spontaneous, easy_going

A Place We'd Love To Visit
The Grand Canyon
Favorite Vacation Memory
That's a tough one... my most favorite vacation memories are from my childhood. We're still building vacation memories as a family.
Worst Travel Moment With My Kids:
Patrick's a pretty good traveler. He enjoys being in the car, for the most part. We had one horrible trip when he was just 3. He just got too antsy sitting in the car seat, we were in a vehicle with no a/c and it was mid august. We were on our way to go camping, and because of backed up traffic (and poor navigation on my part), got completely sidetracked. A 2.5 hour trip took us over 4 hours.

Wilson's Creek National Battlefield
6424 W. Farm Road 182 ,
Republic,
Missouri
Even my 4yr old (at the time) was mostly quiet while we were there... and that's an accomplishment! It can be a bit dull for the young'uns... about 2/3 of the way through, PJ was asking if we were done yet. He did enjoy the buildings, cemetery, and cannons.. and the history (we explained as best we could in ways he'd understand). A very beautiful place with a somber feel to it.
KEEP READING IF YOU'RE INTO SPOOKY STUFF:
A side note, my husband swears he heard a "voice" ask him for a cigarette while he was on the path to the spring house (which was used as an infirmary during the battle), and there was NO ONE else around. I also kept smelling baked goods near the home up hill from the spring house, but no one lives in it, and it was all closed up/locked up. One more weird thing, we took a lot of pictures at the spring house, and also of the cemetery. Only a few spring house pictures took, and NONE of the cemetery pictures took. We used a digital camera, and are both adept at photography, so it was unlikely user/camera error.

Bass Pro Shop
1935 S. Campbell,
Springfield,
Missouri 65807
"For big and little boys alike!"
My husband and son were in testosterone heaven... and lets face it, Mom thought it was cool too! They also have a huge indoor zoo type thing there, but it was closed for renovation while we were there. This is the absolute BIGGEST Bass Pro Shop in the world. Within the store are all sorts of taxidermy animals, and a bunch of live ones too. Don't miss the outlet next door... a low key, hidden gem with great discount prices - if you're there to shop.
