About Me & My Family

My hubby and I each cut our travel teeth early on road trips to visit family throughout the Western US. We use air travel now more than we did as kids, but often travel for the same reason. We learned to pack light a la Rick Steves for our Parisian honeymoon. With a preschooler now in tow, we've altered our style a little, spending more on a comfy hotel room (suites if possible) and frequenting the local parks, wherever we may be, rather than spending big on attractions. As a Nutritional Educator and foodie in general, I try to find good food options all the while.

5 hour flight with my 20mo bouncing off the seat -- no carseat and a CARES that couldn't hold him.

For your comment regarding:

Favorite Campgrounds - anywhere.

You said:

"I love camping, but my hubby is completely anti-camping after his young experiences. So if you're considering emphasizing campgrounds (yay!) can you add a scale, like "Roughing it" where low end is bring your own tent and TP to some random spot in the woods and high end is furnished tents with sauna and heated bathrooms a la Costanoa? I'm afraid we'll have to start high end to wash away my husbands previous experiences ;)"

Fantastic idea with the roughing it to glamping it scale!  I'm a glamper myself so I would love to see sites that offer what my son and husband live for (fishing, hiking, etc) with my style of camping!  Well done!

Thanks Thank you 02/08/10

Your reviews rock! I totally echo your frustration with the bathrooms being attached to the bedroom. I love when we're trying to sneak by and my 2 year old pops his head up and go "What's up?"

Wow! Thanks for such an extensive review. My friend who was relocating to Maryland with her family ended up staying at the hotel based on your recommendation!
