Earth n Fire Pottery
54225 N Circle Dr,
Idyllwild,
California
"Paint your own pottery"
Pick out your item, from a small plate to a sculpted vase, a coffee cup or a piggy bank, and paint it in any pattern from a huge choice of colors. The owners will glaze and fire your piece overnight, and then it's ready for pickup or to be mailed to you. VERY friendly staff, big selection of items, an unusual way to spend an hour or three. This makes for a very personalized souvenir.

Sky Sailing (Glider Rides at Warner Springs Airport) | kids travel, kids activities
Sky Sailing (Glider Rides at Warner Springs Airport)
31930 Highway 79,
Warner Springs,
California
"Soar like a bird!"
These were rather expensive, but as a once-in-a-lifetime experience, they were worth it. My pre-teen went alone with the glider pilot, and actually got to steer the glider herself. The small one rode with Daddy and the pilot, and had a wonderful time. A camera mounted on the wingtip takes photos (included with your price!) for you to remember the trip. Beautiful area, very friendly staff, really a great experience.

Greenhorn Creek Guest Ranch | kids travel, kids activities
Greenhorn Creek Guest Ranch
2116 Greenhorn Ranch Rd,
Quincy, California
"Fabulous western vacation"
If you like horses, you'll love Greenhorn Creek. The all-included guest ranch has real cowboys to teach you to ride, great food in the Chuckhouse, comfortable (but simple) accomodations, and LOTS to do. A fishing pond, frog-races, a pool, campfires, singalongs, and so much more. Even the smallest cowpokes get treated well in the Kiddie Korral with dedicated staff to play with. We've gone for 4 years in a row, and absolutely love it. Adults, teens, little ones.
