About Me & My Family

We are a family of 5 who travels together several times a year, but not always to destinations far, far away. Most of our trips have been to places within 2/3 hours of our home so as not to have the biggest memory of our trip be the travel. We took a big step a few summers ago by embarking on a 5-hour journey to Williamsburg, VA for a weeklong vacation, and thankfully it was a huge success. Since then, we have also done a 7 hour trip to Cape Cod and another 7 hour trip to Vermont. Our memories so far are good ones, and it has been fun to see more and more places in our region of the country, so who can ask for more than that?

Hi, thanks for telling me about the Please Touch Museum, I saw that online too, and was thinking of taking my daughter for her birthday next month. I'm glad you had something good to say about it, I'm going to go.

For your comment regarding:

Going to a wedding in Erie, PA thinking of going to NYC also

"This is just my opinion, but with a 2-yr old who (happily) won't know if you're in Erie or Australia, I would make the best of what Erie and the surrounding areas have to offer and make it easy on yourself. According to the internet, it is 325 miles from Erie to NYC, so that would be about 6 hours you'd being the car with your daughter. So you're basically blowing a day driving, and a day driving back if you're flying/driving home from Erie. If there was a specific thing you wanted to see or if you had an older child who really cared, I would say make a go of it, but I think you'd be happier investigating things closer to your destination.

Looking around, it seems there are a variety things to do with your family that may make for good memories: Waldameer Park and Water World, Erie Zoo, Presque Isle State Park, Tom Ridge Center, Splash Lagoon Indoor Water Park, Erie Maritime Museum, Perry's Landing, and there are 2 lighthouses in Erie to visit, too. Also maybe a day trip to Chautauqua, NY through the wine country would be enjoyable. (website:http://www.ciweb.org/). Most of these places are family-friendly and let kids sample grape juice while you sample wine --if that's your interest. Just a thought...

Also, if you're really set on going somewhere else, places closer than NYC include Columbus OH, Youngstown OH and Pittsburgh PA.

Hope you have a terrific trip and good luck with whatever you decide!! "

Thanks for pitching in to help Clawd's family!  I totally agree with your advice.  Couldn't have said it better myself.

Thanks for your comment! It's totally true my daughter won't have a clue of where she is so I should just take it easy.  Thank you for putting into perspective, I really appreciate it!
