Hanging Rock Park is a lovely place and great get away for the whole family. It is located on Hanging Rock Mountain which is part of the Saura Mt. chain the smallest mt. chain in the U.S. and totally contained within Stokes County. They are trails to hike with scenic waterfalls and a breathtaking view if you make it to the top of the moutain. There is a lake for swimming for about 3 dollars and they have paddle boats and you can even fish there. It is wonderful to camp or just to visit. Check it out!

My 10 year old went on a field trip here and loved it. They have an extensive area of ziplines in a beautiful natural setting near Saurtown Mt. and Hanging Rock state park. The ziplines offer a great adventure and a unique experience for older school age children and they are careful about saftey with helmets required for all participants. I reccommend this as a great outdoor activity especially in the fall when the leaves are changing.

The piedmont triad farmers market is a great experience for kids. They have a great selection of fresh local produce to choose from at the peak of freshness. It teaches kids alot about health and nutrition and about how buying locally helps the enviroment. They also accept the farmer's market WIC(women infants and children) produce checks so that is a big plus!
