About Me & My Family

My name is Melanie; I’m originally from Puerto Rico and my family moved to Orlando, Florida when I was 8 years old. I’ve been here ever since. Although my degree is in Industrial & Systems Engineering, I worked in the e-learning industry for 3 years and now focus on social media consulting. Over the past three years, I’ve found myself loving all things social media and continue to learn more each day. I’ve been married for nearly 7 years and we have a beautiful, yet very active 4 year old baby girl (previously referred to as the monkey). We are raising a bilingual and multicultural little lady and having a blast at it! I love spending time with my preschooler and recently added the work at home mom (WAHM) title to my belt. Join me in my journey as a ModernMami™. http://www.modernmami.com

Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure Orlando

"Fun for everyone"
Another great theme park in the area. Fun for the little ones and the adults. If you have young kids, I'd recommend Islands of Adventure for the Dr. Seuss area. But, Universal Studios also has a fun play area that the young ones will enjoy. Of course, the older kids and adults will enjoy the huge rollercoasters.

"Good food and cute atmosphere"
This is a fun restaurant in the middle of Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom. If you can...try to get a seat near the windows so you can see the Small World ride below you and wave at folks in the boat. We often eat at this restaurant and you can usually find a nice seat.

"Awesome ride!"
This is such a fun ride at Disney's Hollywood Studios! It's easy enough for my 4 year old, yet lots of fun for my husband and I too. Trust me, you don't have to have kids with you to enjoy the ride. You can get into the fun of it and try to beat each other's scores. Great fun!

"Great for the Kids...and Adults too!"
This is a great theme park for the young kids, but older kids and adults will enjoy it too. There is a massive play area, great shows, nice animal exhibits, and even thrill rides - fun for everyone. The best thing that locals can pay for 1 day and for a little extra, can come back the rest of the year for free. I hope they keep that offer available for a while - it's a great deal!

"Ok, but needs some help."
This is the major zoo in the Orlando area and though it's ok, it really needs improvement. The animals always seem tired and have mostly been sleeping when we've visited. The zoo is also not kept very clean and many of the areas are unpaved. Once you get past those details, the little kids will enjoy looking at the animals and the new water play area they have, though.
