Uptown Playaround
3562 Lincoln Hwy (Route 27),
Kendall Park,
New Jersey 08540
I admit, I feel nostalgic for Uptown Playaround because we don't live in the area anymore. It's a kid version of the type of place where "everybody knows your name." We used to be members and come often. The membership is a much better value than the drop in prices because Uptown has MANY weekly and monthly classes and events that are free or heavily discounted for members. We also had a birthday party there and they do a very thorough job creating a tailored party and even offer a free party planning session. My son was turning 6 and we had a super hero themed party. All the kids went through a "Super Hero Training Camp" and got certificates at the end naming them official super heros.
The only con- there is also not much to do there for older kids. My friend's 10 year old said he was bored, although he did play in the jungle gym.

Discovery House Childrens Museum
152 Tices Ln,
East Brunswick,
New Jersey
I had high hopes taking the kids but the toys were scattered, the place smelled a bit mildewy and looked like a worn out daycare not a children's museum. In the area the best place I found for droop in play is Uptown Playaround in Kendall Park, about 10-15 minutes away. I gave this review two stars instead of one only because it was very close to my home and occasionally when I REALLY didn't want to drive farter and needed a place to take the kids it was betten than doing nothing.

Piecasso Pizzera & Lounge

Not so great pizza. This is a vey nice family spot and I guess most who go there are not expecting a gourmet meal- in which case they will get what they came from. The quality of pizza is on par to many chains (flatten dough is put into one end of the oven and comes out baked on the other) this is not a traditional pizza place, but it is a family friendly one.

Liberty Science Center
222 Jersey City Boulevard,
Jersey City,
New Jersey 07305
Beautiful facility with lots of interactive fun. The Liberty science center is generally geared toward older children, but there are fun activities for all ages (and a few made just for the little visitors). My family really enjoyed the touch tunnel and the bat exhibit.

Dallas Zoo
650 South R. L. Thornton Freeway,
Dallas,
Texas 75203-3013
"Nice place to take the kids."
We tend to go to Dallas Zoo during the quite weekday hours when there are less likely to be swamped with older kids and large groups. We have the membership but I dont think it has paid for itself-- zoo is a nice place for the kids to visit, but not something they want on a regular bases.
